Virtual Canine Counseling

Virtual Canine Counseling

What if you could have access to a highly experienced professional to guide you on all things CANINE?

Peter Campione can make that happen!  Peter, of Kindred Souls, has been training and helping folks with dogs for 25 years and has written 2 books and many articles on dog behavior. He knows the questions to ask to diagnose and help remedy any issues you have right from your home. With training ever evolving, having extensive behavioral experience allows us to now offer virtual counseling. We believe, once the humans get it right the dog will follow!!

Most of Pete’s in person and private sessions, involve the dog sitting patiently, while he discusses the issues at hand with the pup’s people. Often the dog will not exhibit troublesome behaviors in front of him. For example, if the dog is jumping on guests, and he doesn’t jump on Pete…that doesn’t mean the problem doesn’t exist. The majority of canine problem solving is building a profile of the dog from what their humans tell him and in turn helping them understand what is causing the issue.

A Zoom call can often allow an assessment of the issue at hand and sound advice on achieving your goals. Its a matter of proper profiling to help you get results.  Whether its housebreaking, sudden behavioral changes, kids and dogs, finding the right dog to fit your lifestyle, how to adopt or buy, setting up your home for a new puppy or simply teaching the training foundation trio, Canine Counseling can provide both information and solutions to common canine questions. Everyone is happy to give advice but with us you will be getting answers and results from a trusted professional.

Some of the topics we can help you with:

  • Behavioral issues/sudden behavior changes ~ When your good dog starts to act out or becomes suddenly aggressive we can help you diagnose the reason.
  • Finding the right dog for you ( which breed) ~ We can help you choose a breed that matches your lifestyle.
  • Resources for good Breeders and Rescues ~ Not every breeder is reputable.  We can help you to understand the difference and what to look for in both breeders and rescue situations.
  • Rescue vs Pure Breed ~ There are many pure bred dogs each year sent to rescues and shelters.  Should you buy or rescue?
  • Adult vs Puppy ~ Do you want to invest the time and work that goes into a puppy? We can help with the basics so you can decide.
  • Setting up your home for new dog (puppy/rescue) ~ What needs to be purchased and what needs to be hidden? We’ll walk you through the basics.
  • Housebreaking ~ Some housebreak easily and others not so much.  We can help you get past any issues that may be involved.
  • Chewing/jumping/barking ~ Having your furniture destroyed, your guests assailed or your neighbors looking for ear plugs can make life unpleasant.  We can help you in redirecting your dog’s energy and bad behaviors.
  • Aggression/Resource Guarding ~ These are particularly important behaviors to deal with and should not be ignored especially in homes with children.
  • Introducing new dog ~ Moving into a new home can be stressful.  We can help you ease your new dog into your family.
  • Exercise needs ~ We help you think through whether you want a couch potato, an energetic pup to jog with you or something in between.

Please also understand that virtual counseling may need follow-up with a reputable local trainer if you are outside NJ or with KSK9 if you are in our area. I am a firm believer that eventually all dogs benefit from a good class!! But some dogs need help to be able to attend a class.
